Gonzalo M. Garcia, CLU, is a Partner at AgencyONE Insurance Marketing Group, LLC, where he is responsible for assisting financial advisors reduce their client’s exposure to morbidity, longevity, mortality and tax risks. Prior to joining AgencyONE, he spent two years with Credit Suisse, a global investment bank, as a Managing Director in the Fixed Income Division working with institutional investors hedging longevity and mortality risk.
Gonzalo started his career in 1982 in San Juan, PR and joined current partners, Ed Leisher and Dennis Bartos in the Washington DC Metro area in 1992 at The Potomac Group, helping grow the business until the sale to The BISYS Group (now Crump Life Insurance Services), in 1998. He stayed with BISYS holding several senior positions, ultimately ascending to Executive Vice President and a key member of the senior management team prior to his departure in 2007.
Gonzalo is an active member of Finseca, having served as AALU Co-Chair on the Brokerage and Independent Distribution Task Force and a member of the AALU Diversity Committee. In 2019 he served as a member of the Nominating Committee for the election of a new Board as a result of the merger between AALU and the General Agents Management Association (GAMA). He was a member of the Education and Program Committee for the 2020 AALU Annual Meeting. He is also an active member of The Forum 400, serving on the Membership Committee, The Program Committee and the Industry Partner Committee; The National Association of Independent Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) and The Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP). He served on the Brokerage General Agency Advisory Councils for Prudential Life Insurance Company, AIG\American General Life and Mutual of Omaha. Finally, Gonzalo is a member of the Board of Directors of LIBRA Insurance Partners.
Gonzalo is a regular speaker at industry conferences including The Forum400, The Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) and The Life Insurance Management Research Association (LIMRA).
Gonzalo attended Rice University in Houston, TX, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984, majoring in Management Studies and Psychology and subsequently went on to receive an MBA from The College of Insurance (now St. John’s University) in New York City, in 1985.
